Colon Cleanse Diets

When you are cleansing your colon, it is important to eat a proper diet. If you eat a lot of junk food, you will only cleanse out the things you are eating at the time. The purpose of cleansing your colon is to get rid of the toxins that have built up over time. Following a colon cleansing diet is not as hard as you might think. It is all about making healthy, smart choices.

There are some specific things that you should avoid eating when you are on a colon cleansing diet. Some are obvious, but some are things we would not usually think about. You should abstain from eating things like fast food, potato chips, cookies and cakes. Ramen noodles and other quick foods are also not to be included. Avoid caffeinated beverages like coffee, black tea and soft drinks. Soft drinks should be avoided not only for their caffeine level, but also for their high sugar content. You should not smoke at all nor should you consume alcohol. Some of the less obvious foods not to eat on a colon cleaning diet are pasturized milk and rice.

Because a colon cleanse can make you feel sluggish and weak, it is imperative to take supplements. A probiotic, such as acidophilus is important because it replenishes the good bacteria in your intestines that colon cleansing can remove. Eating raw egg yolks may seem gross, but it is really very good for you. Raw egg yolks are very nutritious and eating one is like taking a multi vitamin. The easiest way to take it is in a glass of Rice Dream milk or veggie juice. You can also consume it in salad dressing. If you have never eaten it before, take it slow. Taking an oil supplement does not have any direct benefit to the colon, but is healthy nonetheless. Chose one such as oregano, fish, olive, coconut or cod liver oil.

Other good foods are those that replenish good bacteria. The best source is kefir, but if you can’t find that, fermented sauerkraut is also good. To lessen the side effects of a colon cleanse, like tiredness and brain fog, take a vitamin C supplement once a day. This will help offset the symptoms that the toxin release causes. Yeast flakes are another highly nutritious food. The best way to take them is to simply add a scoop to milk or juice and drink up.

Eating colon cleansing foods is very important when you are on a cleansing regimen. Avoid harmful junk food and add healthy nutrient rich items. Following a colon cleansing diet will allow your hard work to be rewarded with improved health.
